Olivenhain banded together and incorporated in 1986. The towns still
retain much of their individual identities. RECREATION There's lots to do in Encinitas. The city has eleven
parks, ten public beaches, trails, Boys and Girls Clubs, YMCA, a
skateboard park, Little League, soccer and a city sports program for kids
and adults. The city is host to a botanical garden and a marine life
refuge. A public 18-hole golf course is being built. BUSINESS Encinitas has a good employment base: about 20,000 jobs. The commute to San Diego is 22 to 26 miles. Rush hour traffic is a bear. The local train, the Coaster, stops in Encinitas. Tourism is a factor. WEB SITES
